How long has HyperlinkHost been in business ?
HyperlinkHost is a subsidiary of Hyperlink Software Corp. The company was started under the name Smart Business Solutions, Inc. as a software and web design agency in 1996 - a name change in 2001 saw us become Hyperlink Software.
How soon will my account be set up ?
Hosting account setup is completed within a few hours of us receiving your payment. If you choose to pay online with a credit / debit card your account will be up and running the same day. If you choose to be invoiced you, will receive your invoice by email within a few hours and account setup will be completed immediately upon receive of payment.
Can I use my account immediately ?
Yes, you'll be able to use your account immediately once setup is complete.
Do you have an Acceptable Use Policy

What software is running on the servers ?
Our web servers are running Windows 2000 Server, IIS 5, ASP, ASP.NET plus a wide selection of pre-installed ASP components that you can use in your web site including ASPUpload, ASPEmail, ASPEncrypt, ASPGrid, and much more
Will others have access to my files ?
By definition anything you place in your web site directories will be available to people though your website - the exception is ASP scripts which, when called from a browser, will run and return the result of the script and not the script source itself.
Any information that you do NOT want visitors to access should be placed in your 'Private' directory where it can still be referenced from the scripts in your site but not accessed directly via a URL.
Nobody but you will have FTP access to your files unless you give them the username and password.
Can I take credit cards securely via my site ?
Your can use our SSL certificate ($7.50 per month) or your own certificate to securely transmit credit card information from your site.
Can I resell part of my web hosting account ?
No, your account is for your use ONLY and we currently do not offer reseller accounts - however this may be an option we add in the future.
Will there be advertising on my site ?
Absolutely not, your account is for your exclusive use NOT for us or anyone else to advertise our services !
How do I upload my web site ?
You can connect to your account and upload your files using any FTP client. We recommend CuteFTP if you're looking for standalone FTP software. FrontPage users can upload directly from FrontPage.
You can even FTP your files to your account straight from Windows Explorer (Win98+) - just enter your ftp server address in the address bar, enter your username and password when prompted and you can drag and drop your files from your desktop to the web server !
Can I use my account for a commercial website ?
Absolutely, your account can be used for personal or business web sites.
How often can I update my site ?
As often as you need to, your account is there to be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What payment options do you offer ?
Payment can be made monthly or annually. We accept most major credit cards. Checks and credit cards are accepted for annual payments. Credit cards are accepted for monthly payments.
Hosting fees are always pre-paid. For example, July's hosting fee is due July1. If you activate your account part way through the month, your fee for that month will be prorated based on the remaining days in the month.
Is there a minimum term or contract to sign ?
There is no minimum length of service, and you are free to cancel your account at any time with no penalty. Please note that fees paid in advance will not be refunded if you choose to terminate the account part way through the pre-paid period. You must notify us of your intent to cancel at least 2 days prior to the end of the month.
Is it safe to order with my credit card on your site ?
Yes, orders placed on our web site are protected by SSL encryption, as denoted by the closed padlock in your browser status bar. SSL is the industry standard in encryption and is considered unbreakable. Credit card information is never stored on our site.
If you still have concerns about providing your card details over the web, fill out the form to start a new account and check the 'Call Me About My Credit Card Information' in the credit card section. One of our representatives will contact you by phone for the necessary information.
How much web space is included with my account ?
Each site comes with 200MB of storage space. A typical web page, including pictures, comes in at around 50 Kilobytes which means you can store 200 typical web pages per Megabyte (MB) of web space. With our plan you have the capacity of approximately 40,000 web pages per site.
How much transfer allowance is included with my account ?

How many email accounts are included ?
You receive 20 separate email accounts per site with unlimited email forwarding, plus autoresponders.
How can I collect my email ?
You can collect your email using any pop3 mail client (e.g. Outlook, Outlook Express or Pegasus). All accounts also include a webmail interface to allow you to manage your email through your web browser.
Can I administer my own email accounts ?
Absolutely, your webmail interface also doubles as your email control panel allowing you to create, delete and modify users, aliases, forwarders, vacation messages, processing rules etc.
It is very straightforward to use and includes integrated online help should you need it.
What ASP components are available for me to use ?
There are a wide range of ASP components installed on our web servers and we have endeavored to cover all of the commonly required components types. There are components for email processing, file upload, image upload, image resizing/modifying, data grids, text/string manipulation, session management and data encryption.

How can I access my raw visitor logs ?
Your raw visitor logs are stored within your hosting account in the 'logfiles' directory.
Can I use Frontpage Extensions with my account ?
Absolutely!
Can visitors see my site without the www. ?
Yes, your web site will be available at both http://www.yourdomain.com and http://yourdomain.com.
How do I get technical support ?
Most of the most commonly asked technical support questions are covered in our support area.
Will my site be backed up regularly ?
We perform full daily tape backups of our web, database and email servers. Please note, however, that these backups are performed to allow restoration of data by HyperlinkHost if there is a server related problem, they are not available to clients to restore files that have been damaged or deleted by the client.
Always keep an up-to-date local copy of your site. If your site includes dynamic elements such as databases, back these up to your local machine regularly.
